Have changed my journal style again in search to find one as readable as my LJ one. Still not happy. Will try again in about a week or so. Or maybe I will just leave it until some more become available here at DW so it's easier to change.

I just went through and removed a bunch of openids of people who now have journals from my info page. I don't see what the point of having those still out there if they're not in use anymore. It makes the page look neater without them. I wish there was a way to remove a deleted one using the web interface, but if there is, I didn't see it. On LJ, I'd use semagic, but I don't use a client for DW yet. I should probably look into that if I'm going to use it much, because I'm not a fan of posting from the web. I like my keyboard shortcuts too much. :)

Does all the crossposting confuse anyone else? I'm never sure exactly how far back on DW I've already read because I see a lot of the same posts from LJ. So I'm wondering if read it here or I'd just seen it over there.

I just realized that all my posts on DW to date have made me look really simple minded. What a lovely first impression to be giving!

I have heard rumours that there are ways to get semagic working for cross-posting, but as it's not a Linux client I can neither confirm nor provide directions.

The crossposting confuses me because my syndicated feeds update at different times on LJ than on DW so something can show up on one site before it shows up on the other. I'm going to have to go through people's DW manifesto posts soon and create a filter over there for people who are not leaving/not cross-posting.

Apparently at some point the idea is that we will be able to "claim" our OpenIDs so that, for instance, old comments attributed to an OpenID will automatically associate with the correct DW account. I believe it's an "after-launch" thing though so sometime past July.

I don't think it matters - only time it would matter would be if someone kept their OpenID account but deleted their DW account, or for those who have a DW account but don't use it much and so end up using the OpenID account to comment.

Are you using one of Grrliz's styles? (It looks like it, but I'm not sure.) I liked hers, but found the font size a little too small for my tastes. On the off chance that you agree, here's what I did:

I really don't know how to write CSS at all, but if you're using one of her Mixit styles, go to "Edit your layout layer" (from the Select Journal Style page). That takes you to the (scary!) screen full of code.

On that page, search for "STYLE SHEET," which will get you to the part where you copy&pasted the style sheet. A few lines down from there is a line that says font-size: 62.5% (or maybe some other number). If you increase that number, your fonts get a bit larger -- I found that either 65% or 67.5% looked nice to me.

Warning: I don't know what I'm doing. This works in Firefox and Safari, but I just did it by looking for lines in the code that looked like they might control the font size, and tweaking.

I don't know anything about CSS, but I have just enough of a computer-geek background to be comfortable poking around in some else's code and seeing if I can easily fix what I want to.

(I don't understand how anyone reads small light type on colored backgrounds, but then, I haven't been 18 for a very long time. I adore my "zap" bookmarklet, which gives me a nice white screen with black type.)
